FESTIVAL 2024
The Gyzi Megaron Festival, a beloved and warmly embraced institution by the people of Santorini and its numerous visitors, returns and invites you to four exceptional musical evenings!
As always, the festival will take place at the historic 17th-century mansion in Fira, Santorini, from August 2nd to 13th, with free admission to all events, thanks to the unwavering support of the Catholic Diocese of Thira.
The festival starts on Friday, August 2nd, 2024, featuring the exceptional cellist and Artistic Director of the Festival di Maggio in Campania, Giuliano de Angelis, and the internationally acclaimed pianist, Paolo Scafarella, performing works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Piazzolla.
On Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, two regular collaborators of the Greek National Opera, the distinguished soprano and graduate of the renowned Munich Music Academy, Anna Stylianaki, and the tenor, a graduate of the Trinity College of Music in London, Philip Modinos, along with the unique Dimitris Yakas on piano, invite us to an Opera evening titled “Puccini and His Era“.
On Friday, August 9th 2024, we have the pleasure and honor of hosting on the stage of the Gyzi Megaron Cultural Center, the exceptional Spanish trumpetist, professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Valencia, Dr. Vicente Campos, who will collaborate with the internationally award-winning pianist, professor at the Conservatorio Superior del Liceo de Barcelona, Michael Davidov Butusov, presenting a program featuring works by Haydn, Schubert, Chopin, Respighi, and others.
At the final concert of the Gyzi Megaron Festival 2024, on Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, the principal flutist of the Greek National Opera, Zacharias Tarpagos, Ana Chifu, one of the most recognized and pioneering flutists of her generation, the cellist of the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, Christos Grimpas, and Valeria Charitidou on piano, will present a demanding yet light program for two flutes, cello, and piano, with works by Debussy, Gluck, Delibes, Doppler, Shocker, Cimarosa, Kuhlau, Bach, and Haydn.
With love and special care, we have prepared for the Gyzi Megaron Festival 2024 an artistic program that gives us all the opportunity to enjoy top musicians performing renowned works of the global repertoire. Join us again this summer to travel together through music!
The Gyzi Megaron Festival also suggests attending the event organized by the 8th International Organ Festival ANO, which will take place on Sunday, August 25th, 2024, at 20:00 at the Church of Immaculate Conception of Virgin Mary, in Fira. The ANO FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA will participate under the direction of Stefanos Tsialis and soloist the cellist Strahl Tomasz.
