ATHENS STATE ORCHESTRA WOODWIND QUINTET
The woodwind quintet is one of the most widespread forms of chamber music, as it covers an extremely wide repertoire but also produces a variety of sounds. Five distinguished musicians of the Athens State Orchestra, Vangelis Stathoulopoulos (flute), Christina Pantelidou (oboe), Grigoris Asonitis (horn), Spyros Mourikis (clarinet) and Odysseas Bassios (bassoon) of the Woodwind Quintet of the Athens State Orchestra, are aiming through chamber music concerts to promote the repertoire for woodwind instruments instruments and enhance the «popularity» of this musical form.
At the same time this ensemble since its foundation in 2013 has implemented hundreds of educational and social programs in every corner of Greece and has also represented the Athens State Orchestra in events that promote inter-cultural exchanges.
For the Woodwind Quintet’s concert at the Gyzi Megaron Festival, a special program has been selected, which aspires to highlight the relationship between music and the theater, opera, ballet, dance and cinema. From the «Magic Flute» to «La vita e bella» and the «Swan Lake» to the traditional Greek dances, they invite you to a charming and quite unique musical journey.
