PAINTING & ENGRAVING EXHIBITION

«Sea Aroma»

The festival lifts curtains on August 1st with the opening of a painting and engraving group exhibition, titled «Sea Aroma», in which five young but distinguished artists, all aged 35-40 years old, participate. Tania Dimitrakopoulou, Panos Kokkalis and Kostas Pappas exhibit painting works (oils, acrylics and watercolors), while Kleves Krisiko and Dimitris Tsiroyannis exhibit engraving works (woodcuts and etchings). Morphoplastic searches of the artists with images of the sea constitute the theme of the exhibition, which is curated by Yannis Papaconstantinou, Artistic Director of Megaro Gyzi.

Tania Dimitrakopoulou (1969)

Tania Dimitrakopoulou was born in Athens in 1969. She studied Cell and Molecular Biology at Kingston University, in the U.K. (1998-91). She continued her postgraduate studies at City University of London obtaining her M.Sc. in Industrial and Administrative Sciences. She then studied painting at the Fine Art School of Athens (1998-2003).

Panos Kokkalis (1969)

Panos Kokkalis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1969. He studied Fine Arts (painting) at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1989-1995) under Dimitris Mytaras. He continued his studies in scenography under B. Basiliadis and G. Ziakas, acquiring his BA honors Degree in 1995. He cooperated under Ministry of Culture and he teaches painting from 2000. His paintings form part of private collections.

Kleves Krisiko (1973)

Kostas Pappas (1974)

Born in Athens in 1974. Kostas Pappas studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts in Painting Studio IV under professors I. Valavanidis, M. Manousakis and M. Spiliopoulos, graduating in 2001 with honours.

Dimitris Tsiroyannis (1974)

Born in Athens in March 1974. He studied sculpture at the Fine Arts department of the Aristotle university of Thessalonica under the tutelage of Fotis Hatzioanidis. As a senior student he was awarded a scholarship from the National Scholarship foundation on account of his merit. He lives and
works in Athens and Arta. His sculptures and prints are displayed in many private collections and galleries in Greece and abroad.
