Greek National Radio Choir (ERT) – From Renaissance to Gospel
The Greek National Radio Choir (ERT), in the context of their summer events, presents a special music program in Santorini. This music wandering starts out from Italian Renaissance, and through German Romanticism reaches the American land of Gospels and Spirituals. Motets and psalms by major representatives of the Italian and German polyphonic tradition lead to a contemporary motet by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo and to Bob Chilcott’s famous Jazz Mass.
The ERT Choir, experienced in performing works by Greek composers, will begin the second part of the concert with well-known melodies loved by the Greek audience. This musical journey will be completed with a change in rhythm, and style, through a selection of unique gospel and spiritual songs from the American South.
