ATHENS QUINTET D. DOUNIS IOANNA FORTI
Αn a walk take place around the world? Yes, when music is the vehicle. And if the voice is accompanied by instruments that go beyond geographical boundaries and musical idioms, there is no distance. The mandolin and the guitar are two such instruments that managed to overcome their origins and offer their sound almost in every form of music, from baroque to modern writing, from traditional song to jazz, from East to West. In the case of the Athens Quintet D. Dounis the archetypal mandolin-guitar duo is enriched with an extra mandolin, a mandola and a mandoloncello, further expanding the repertoire. Among compositions familiar or less familiar, Ioanna Forti’s voice is tied to the sound of the nightly strings in songs that make this journey unique.
