SUMMARY:Dimitra Galani

Thomas Konstantinou\, a great oud virtuoso and the outstanding jazz pianist Spiros Manessis.\nTogether they perform songs with influences from the East and the West. Two instruments represent each of these “schools”. The oud and the piano\, linked by Dimitra Galani’s charismatic voice. A performer who consciously for years has balanced her voice between two cultures\, with respect to memory\, confidence in the talent of young people and sense of measure.\nTheir performance unites the contrasts of these two musical worlds which\, although seem to be different\, have in fact always been close by exchanging elements and ideas. The three artists outstandingly show the differences and similarities\, and illuminate the path to Art. The selected songs are favorite and timeless\, and presented in a different way. Songs that embrace the audience…

Gurdjieff\, Komitas Vardapet\, and Federico Mompou\, personalities who associate themselves with references to musical tradition\, the relation between secular and religious music and their interesting references to philosophical quests.\nModerato Cantabile was recorded in November 2013 in the concert hall of Lugano’s Broadcasting Mansion for the famous ECM\, produced by Manfred Eicher. \nAnja Lechner (violoncello)\nFrancois Couturier (piano)

SUMMARY:TROUBLE IN TAHITI
DESCRIPTION:TROUBLE IN TAHITI\nLEONARD BERNSTEIN \n \nThe “Medium Project” opera group is a new group of artists founded in 2013 by the director Raia Tsakiridis. Their first production\, the presentation of Giancarlo Menoti’s masterpiece “The Medium’\, received rave reviews from both critics and the public\, with great success.\nLeonard Bernstein’s “Trouble in Tahiti” presents a day in the life of a couple\, somewhere in the early 1950s. The pair along with a vocal trio comment on the futility of the “American Dream”. This day is divided into seven scenes that determine the action.\nThe drama deals with the gravity of personal relationships\, the pursuit of happiness\, and the inability of effective interpersonal communication\, being problematic regardless of time\, space\, gender and origin. Relationships between genders and everyday routine are examined closely.\nThis opera’s music touches the classic American musical of the 1950s with direct\, simple and clear writing under the sounds of jazz music. \nIrena Athanasiou\nMichalis Psyrras\nAntonia Despouli\nAris Prospathopoulos\nNikos Ziaziaris\nPiano: Dimitris Marinos \nirection: Raia Tsakiridis\nMusic direction: Andreas Tselikas\nChoreography:  Korina Kokkalis\nCostumes:  Pavlos Thanopoulos

SUMMARY:YIORGOS KALOUDIS
DESCRIPTION:YIORGOS KALOUDIS – INNOVATING TRADITION \nThrough the freedom of silence where time expands\, the composer is searching the precious enlightenment through the poetic truth of the Cello and the Cretan Lyra sound\, revealing soundscapes\, and extending the expressive limits of the two instruments.\nHe uses the live-loop-recording technique to orchestrate sound layers during his performance.\nA string environment is creating the particular harmonic architecture of the Cello and the Cretan Lyra.\nThrough the architecture of harmony\, inspired by the emotional imprinting depth of the musical landscape and freedom of improvisation\, the concert reveals a sound horizon with apparent influences from Classical\, Ambient and World music.\nYiorgos Kaloudis’ solo concert consists of pieces from his discography\, “J.S.
