The three artists outstandingly show the differences and similarities\, and illuminate the path to Art. The selected songs are favorite and timeless\, and presented in a different way. Lechner is a classical soloist with an interest in the art of improvisation\, while Couturier\, a jazz-based musician\, has advanced to other areas of musical expression. In their program Moderato Cantabile they present their own interpretative versions and orchestrations of three personalities of culture and art that touched the boundaries in the history of music; G.I. Gurdjieff\, Komitas Vardapet\, and Federico Mompou\, personalities who associate themselves with references to musical tradition\, the relation between secular and religious music and their interesting references to philosophical quests.\nModerato Cantabile was recorded in November 2013 in the concert hall of Lugano’s Broadcasting Mansion for the famous ECM\, produced by Manfred Eicher. \nAnja Lechner (violoncello)\nFrancois Couturier (piano)

SUMMARY:TROUBLE IN TAHITI
DESCRIPTION:TROUBLE IN TAHITI\nLEONARD BERNSTEIN \n \nThe “Medium Project” opera group is a new group of artists founded in 2013 by the director Raia Tsakiridis. Their first production\, the presentation of Giancarlo Menoti’s masterpiece “The Medium’\, received rave reviews from both critics and the public\, with great success.\nLeonard Bernstein’s “Trouble in Tahiti” presents a day in the life of a couple\, somewhere in the early 1950s. The pair along with a vocal trio comment on the futility of the “American Dream”. This day is divided into seven scenes that determine the action.\nThe drama deals with the gravity of personal relationships\, the pursuit of happiness\, and the inability of effective interpersonal communication\, being problematic regardless of time\, space\, gender and origin. Relationships between genders and everyday routine are examined closely.\nThis opera’s music touches the classic American musical of the 1950s with direct\, simple and clear writing under the sounds of jazz music. \nIrena Athanasiou\nMichalis Psyrras\nAntonia Despouli\nAris Prospathopoulos\nNikos Ziaziaris\nPiano: Dimitris Marinos \nirection: Raia Tsakiridis\nMusic direction: Andreas Tselikas\nChoreography:  Korina Kokkalis\nCostumes:  Pavlos Thanopoulos
